2027 Renault 5 Turbocharged 3E: Australia’s hot hatch electric vehicles will

More details about the wild Renault 5 Turbocharged 3E Announced before unconfirmed figures head to Australia’s hot hatchback.

It was revealed in December that it was a modern sight of the 1980s classic 1980s Renault 5 Turbo, a specialty of the mass market hatchback designed to win the World Rally.

Renault will now confirm that the 1980 Hyundai Electric Heat Hammer example will be built globally, reflecting the unveiling of the original R5 Turbo at the 1980 Brussels Auto Show.

Renault Australia has not confirmed how many people will come to Australia at what price, although it began to attract interest in late December – even if it still hasn’t locked in the regular Renault 5 in local showrooms.

Given its exclusiveness and performance certificate, it could be the most expensive Renault ever in Australia, potentially usurping the 2019 $108,000 Megane RS Trophy R record version.

Unlike most electric vehicles (EVs), Renault says the R5 Turbo 3E is built on a completely different platform from the Renault 5 E-Tech, allowing it to use an inner wheel motor instead of a single front trim unit of its smaller sibling.

Renault has previously stated that the 2022 Turbo 3E concept weighs only 980 kg, and its 42kWh lithium-ion battery pack weighs 520 kg, but now it says that the production model will not weigh more than 1,450 kg. That would make it heavier than the standard electric 5 E-Tech.

Its battery has also been expanded to 70kWh, Renault has a maximum range of 400 kilometers and a DC charging capacity of 350kW.

Powering the R5 turbocharged 3E is a pair of motors, each with one inside the rear wheel, which Renault claims can produce up to 400kW and 4800nm ​​– although the latter figure is the torque of the wheels, not the motor.

The automaker quotes 0-100km/h time in 3.5 seconds, the same as the all-wheel drive Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. It will also feature a top speed of 270 km/h.

Like the Ioniq 5n, the 5-turbocharged 3E has an 800-volt electrical architecture.

Renault makes the most of the 5-turbocharged 3E on a custom platform, which is very different from the 5 electronics technology.

The dimensions are 40.8m, 203m wide, 1.38m high, about 16cm wide and 23cm wide, 12cm lower than its siblings, and its wheelbase has also increased by 3cm to 257m.

Its more aggressive stance is helped by a more aggressive tilting roof, and the five turbocharged 3Es also don’t have two of the five E-Tech doors.

Under the wide hub rack, sit 20-inch wheels, with the emphasis on performance rather than efficiency.

With a grip-centric body, this approach is obvious, designed to increase downforce rather than make the electric hatchback win an overpressure race.

Inside, a pair of racing-style barrel seats feature a six-point harness that shows the electric car’s intentions, as does the carbon fiber trim.

There is a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, while the vertical pull-type handbrake is arguably the biggest sign that this isn’t a regular Renault.

Renault shows the R5 Turbo 3E in yellow, silver and black paint only, but it says the electric hatchback will be available in “exterior and interior colors choices.”

These include the gloss and light red rouge grenade finish of the original model, as well as some combinations inspired by previous racing cars, such as the factory-supported colors of the 1982 Tour de Corse.

“With Renault designers, they will be able to combine variations to create their own truly unique vehicles,” the company said.
