this Daily Selection yes A 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera coupe with 41K miles is listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a New York dealer.
Certain car and color combinations are iconic. Take the 2008 Mustang Bullitt, for example; it’s hard to imagine it in any color other than Deep Highland Green. The natural color of a Plymouth Prowler is purple. And as our latest Pick of the Day, a 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe with 41K miles, shows, Guards Red was a perfect match for 911s of that era.
Judging by the photos, this Carrera 3.2 in Guards Red is in excellent condition, which isn’t surprising considering it has only 41,630 miles on it and was just removed from long-term storage.
As part of the mechanical update, the car received a number of updates. The sunroof received new seals, and the 16-inch Fuchs wheels were fitted with new 205/55 Michelin XGT V4 front and 225/50 Fulda Carat Extremo rear tires. The air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine was stripped down for repairs and fitted with new belts, ignition wires, and fuel hoses. In addition, a new clutch and new shift bushings for the Getrag G50 five-speed manual transmission were installed.
The cockpit appears to be just as well preserved as the body. The black leatherette power-adjustable front seats and two-piece rear seats are shiny and free of cracks. Amenities include power windows, air conditioning, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette radio.
Even the small details have been taken care of. This P-model comes with the original manual, warranty card, and tool kit. You won’t need the last part anytime soon, as the car has undergone a comprehensive series of mechanical updates. And you won’t need to apply a vinyl wrap to it, either, because the color is perfect. You’ll need to pay $119,000 to be the next owner of this modern classic.
