5 premium hotel technology trends

Trends in hospitality technology from AI to IoT to robotics and sustainability are intensifying for a more seamless attendee experience.

Conference professionals are flooded with new technologies that are driving conference planning, mainly good. From AI-powered visitor services to smart devices and data-driven personalization, the hospitality industry is also undergoing a technological revolution.

According to Hotel Network, this is the top hospitality technology trend that planners are now seeing (or soon) at their main airport.

  1. Mobile applications for contactless services. With the hotel industry still in short supply, mobile technology is stepping up to fill gaps in ways that many attendees may make the experience more streamlined than ever before. For example, many hotels now offer mobile apps that attendees can use to access services and amenities without having to call the front desk or concierge services, and self-check kiosks that allow guests to check in without a queue.
  2. AI is used to enhance customization. Chatbot concierge is a great choice, especially since they can answer questions even after get off work and remove front desk staff from routine requests so they can spend more time serving guests who need such professional human touch. Now, many hotels will also spend a year to provide a super personalized guest experience based on everyone’s personal preferences. For example, hotels can use AI algorithms to power recommendation engines that can analyze guests’ past preferences and behaviors to come up with ideas about the services and experiences they are looking for, from dining suggestions to professional room facilities.
  3. Customizable guest rooms with IoT (Internet of Things). Rooms get more seamless customization when hotels pair AI with IoT. For example, a hotel can predict and preset rooms to have room temperature, lighting, entertainment systems, and even mattresses and pillows set to guests’ personal preferences.
  4. The robot keeps it clean. Staff shortages may have initiated this hospitality technology trend, but attendees will benefit as service robots begin to take on tasks, including everything from keeping rooms clean to providing food and amenities.
  5. Smart technology can improve sustainability. Guests may no longer need to remember to reject the thermostat, or when they leave the room for a meeting, they turn off the lights if they are held in a hotel using smart thermostats and lighting.

While all these hospitality technology trends have the potential to enhance the guest experience, they have also caused some concerns. For example, some worry that AI, smart devices and the rest of the equipment may end up leading to human work in the labor-intensive hospitality industry. And, while AI is good at analyzing data to come up with solutions, it is not ready to replace the labor in understanding what really hits people, so its personalized ideas still need to be validated by one person to ensure its attitude. At least for the time being, some smaller venues may find the whole claim too expensive.
