The sticky door button does not allow the door to close completely, prompting another recall of Ineos

- The ballistic hand model built between July 6, 2023 and April 19, 2024 is being recalled.
- The outer section buttons may remain dent due to improper components.
- The dealer was told to replace all external department buttons on the off-road vehicle.
Ineos recalled more than 7,000 cars in the U.S. because the door lock mechanism could cause the door to swing during movement. This can be dangerous for occupants and other road users and requires the return of the affected models to the dealer.
British brand says the door button mechanism for the 2024 Grenadier model may have been filled with enough grease. This means that the outer section buttons may remain in the depression to prevent the door from latching completely. If this happens, the door can be opened randomly.

The affected ballistic hands were manufactured between July 6, 2023 and April 19, 2024. The owner who is experiencing the problem may notice that the door button is stuck and observes different sounds when closing the door because it does not fully interact with the striker. A warning will also appear on the dashboard to confirm that the door is not completely closed.

Ineos first realized several warranty requirements for the external department buttons that were pasted when the door opened from the outside was opened in October 2023. It soon began returning vehicles at its facilities and issued a technical service announcement to dealers in February 2024 directing them to re-fix mechanisms. Despite these efforts, Ineos’ reports of two door openings that were driving in the U.S. cars the same year, concluded earlier this month that the issue represents a safety-related flaw.
The owner’s recall will be notified from March 31, 2025. Dealers have been instructed to replace all door button components for free. These new components have better guidance and kinematic mechanisms and are equipped with better “greasing and grease application process.”
