Maserati has introduced the much-awaited second-generation GranTurismo to the Indian market, with prices starting at Rs 2.72 crore for the Modena variant and Rs 2.90 crore for the top-of-the-line Trofeo variant, both ex-showroom. This exquisite 2+2 coupe has been extensively upgraded, continuing Maserati’s tradition of luxury and performance.
Sophisticated design and aerodynamics
The new GranTurismo retains the low, flowing lines of its predecessor, with a revolutionary design approach. The front features the iconic Maserati Trident logo, flanked by a bumper with a splitter and large air intakes, which is both beautiful and functional. Newly integrated air vents behind the grille optimize aerodynamics, directing excess air around the body. The side profile retains the distinctive triple air vent design that is a hallmark of the Maserati design language, while the rear features sleeker triangular taillights for a more modern and sophisticated look.
Performance Driven Engineering
Under the bonnet of the GranTurismo is a 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo petrol engine cleverly mounted behind the front axle to optimise balance and handling. The Modena model delivers 489 hp and 600 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and to a top speed of 302 km/h. The Trofeo model takes performance further, delivering 550 hp and 650 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and to a top speed of 320 km/h.
For those with an eye on the future, the all-electric GranTurismo Folgore will debut in 2025, featuring a three-motor all-wheel drive system that produces an astonishing 751 horsepower and 1,350 Nm of torque. The electric car will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 325 km/h. Its 92.5 kWh battery will provide an astonishing range of up to 450 km on a full charge.
Modern interior with advanced technology
Maserati has completely revamped the interior of the GranTurismo, replacing most traditional physical controls with advanced touchscreens. The dashboard now houses a 12.3-inch infotainment display, with an 8.8-inch screen next to it dedicated to climate control. The multifunction steering wheel retains some tactile buttons, striking a balance between physical and digital controls. The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster provides key driving information, while the iconic analog clock has been transformed into a customizable digital display, reflecting Maserati’s seamless fusion of tradition and innovation.
Market Position and Competition
In the Indian luxury coupe segment, the Maserati GranTurismo ICE model will compete with established rivals like the Bentley Continental GT, Ferrari Roma, Aston Martin Vantage and Porsche 911. When the all-electric GranTurismo Folgore is launched next year, it will enter the competitive electric vehicle market and go head-to-head with the Audi RS e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan, both of which are strong competitors in the luxury electric vehicle segment.
The second-generation Maserati GranTurismo represents a major step forward for the brand, offering cutting-edge technology and exhilarating performance while staying true to its iconic design heritage.
