Tata Motors Managing Director Shailesh Chandra takes over as SIAM President

Ashok Leyland Ltd. Managing Director and CEO Shenu Agarwal has been appointed as Vice President for 2024-2025, while Daimler India Commercial Vehicles CEO and Managing Director Satyakam Arya is the new Finance Chief of SIAM.

Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd and Tata Passenger Electric Vehicles Ltd, has been appointed as the new President by the Executive Committee of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) for the term 2024-25. For those who are unaware, SIAM is the apex body representing the top automobile manufacturers in the country. With this development, Shailesh Chandra, former Vice President of SIAM, takes over from Vinod Aggarwal, Managing Director and CEO of Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles Ltd. At the Executive Committee meeting, the new heads were elected. Shenu Agarwal, Managing Director and CEO of Ashok Leyland Ltd, was appointed as the Vice President for the term 2024-2025, while Satyakam Arya, CEO and Managing Director of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, becomes the new Finance Chief of SIAM.

Themed “Sustainable Mobility Journey Towards ‘Viksit Bharat'”, the 64th Annual Conference of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) saw prominent leaders and policymakers discuss the key role of sustainable mobility in achieving the ‘Viksit Bharat’ goal by 2047. In his special address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed the importance of the automotive industry in driving the country’s sustainable development. He stressed that achieving this goal requires rapid but continuous improvements and cleaner, greener mobility is a key first step. In his speech, he said that implementing sustainable practices is essential for national development. “The path ahead requires us to progress rapidly but also sustainably. Committing to greener, cleaner mobility is an important step in this direction,” he said.
