The National Agricultural Exhibition Hall is one of the ten most important buildings in the capital on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Its location, size, layout and style were personally approved by Premier Zhou Enlai. After its official completion in 1959, the first large-scale national exhibition after the founding of the People’s Republic of China – the National Agricultural Achievements Exhibition on the Occasion of the 10th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China – was held, creating an exhibition of nearly 40 years of exhibition history in Beijing. Since then, the National Agricultural Exhibition Hall has become famous in Beijing and attracted worldwide attention.
The entire museum covers an area of 52 hectares, with 10 exhibition halls in traditional Chinese architectural style, with a total construction area of 25,000 square meters. The new agricultural exhibition hall laid the foundation stone on November 8, 2004 and was officially put into use in May 2005. The new museum adopts a large-span independent column-based tensioned-rope tube bridge structure, with a length of 152.5 meters and a width of 86 meters. The exhibition hall area is 13,000 square meters, and the highest point reaches 15.6 meters. The completion of the new museum has greatly improved our museum’s ability to undertake large-scale exhibitions and has also become a highlight of our museum’s exhibition rental. At the same time, there are 3 plazas with a total area of 40,000 square meters. With such a large exhibition hall area and such a large area, it is the largest exhibition venue in Beijing. It is especially suitable for holding exhibitions involving large machinery, including some large-scale exhibitions. The museum area is lined with shady trees, blooming flowers and rolling waves of the lake, complementing the cloisters, pavilions and classical buildings with green tiles and yellow eaves. It is the only large-scale garden-style exhibition hall in traditional Chinese style in Beijing. All the merchants who have come to the exhibition hall to hold exhibitions agree that the National Agricultural Exhibition Hall is a rare and suitable place for holding large-scale exhibitions.
