  • The US version of the Tiguan will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show and go on sale next summer.
  • Dealers saw parts of the redesigned Atlas as well as the next-generation ID.4.
  • The new ID.Buzz is expected to be available in dealers around Thanksgiving this year.

Volkswagen dealers have a lot to be excited about, with a variety of new and updated models on the horizon. Chief among them are the facelifted Jetta and Taos and the all-new ID.Buzz.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg, as Volkswagen gave dealers a peek into the future at a conference in Orlando earlier this month — the automaker’s first nationwide conference in years. Dealers learned that the redesigned Tiguan will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November and is scheduled to go on sale the following June, Automotive News reported.

The model is expected to be nearly identical to the Tayron, which will debut in European specification at the Paris Motor Show next month. It is expected to be 5.2 inches (133 mm) longer than the European Tiguan and will likely feature a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.

Charlie Hall, chairman of Volkswagen’s National Dealer Advisory Council, told Autonews that dealers are very optimistic about the new Tiguan in the U.S. He commented: “If they can determine reasonable pricing, we do have a product to sell because it does exactly what you would expect.”

The new Tiguan for North America will be the twin brother of the Tayron for the Chinese (opening picture) and European (above) markets.

Dealers also saw a redesigned Atlas, but that’s not surprising since China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology effectively did it for them last week when it unveiled the new Teramont Pro. It’s a fairly noticeable change as the crossover gets a streamlined body, flush-mounted door handles and an aerodynamically optimized front end. Designers also tweaked the greenhouse and adopted pixel-like lighting fixtures.

Electric vehicle models remain in focus

In addition to the two crossovers, Volkswagen also reportedly showed off “partial configurations” of the next-generation ID.4. The ID.7 was also on display, but no updates were provided on the electric mid-size sedan.

This is disappointing, as the car was originally scheduled to go on sale in the U.S. this year. However, back in May, VW announced that they were delaying sales due to “changing market dynamics.”
