Alfa Romeo dealers offer $15,000 discounts to move

Even the highly regarded Quadrifoglio is selling for thousands of dollars less than its MSRP.

There’s no doubt that the Alfa Romeo Giulia is a joy to drive. The driving experience is exhilarating, engaging and fun no matter which trim you drive it in. Despite this, and the fact that it’s one of the best-looking sedans on the market, it’s probably a stretch to say it’s never been a bestseller.

As a result, dealers across the country are offering deep discounts to clear out remaining stocks, especially pre-facelift models.

As a reminder, this Alfa Romeo comes in five different trim levels but only with two powertrains (which is part of the problem, but that’s another story). The first four trims all use a powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out 280 horsepower and 308 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is optional.

The Quadrifoglio, on the other hand, goes all out, with a 505-horsepower twin-turbo V6 and a superbly tuned chassis for an exhilarating driving experience.

It also has a phone dial wheel, but of course adds a fantastic twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. It’s only available with rear-wheel drive, so it should make for a thrilling driving experience.

These cars (and the Stelvio SUV) may well be the last truly great internal combustion Alfa Romeos. The next-generation Giulia will be an electric car and may end up being similar to the new Charger, with an inline-six engine, but not the Ferrari-built V6 of the current generation.

Perhaps the best part of the whole situation is that these cars come with full factory warranties. If there’s one major concern that many prospective buyers of these cars might have, it’s reliability — though that concern is often unwarranted, especially in the four-cylinder models. Right now, you can buy one of these cars for thousands of dollars less than the original price while not having to worry about unexpected repairs for at least the next few years.
