Royal Enfield launched 18 motorcycles in this segment and captured 82% of the market with 6 motorcycles
After looking at the sales of the 150cc to 200cc segment, let us now take a look at the sales of 350cc to 450cc motorcycles in August 2024. This segment declined slightly by 3.59% year-on-year, with total sales reaching 75,632 vehicles. By August 2023, sales will reach 78,452 vehicles. While some models saw growth, others faced significant declines.
350cc to 450cc motorcycle sales in August 2024 – Royal Enfield dominates
Royal Enfield Classic 350 remained the best-selling model with sales of 28,450 units, an increase of 8.93% over the previous year. Classic 350 maintains a market dominance of 37.62%. Royal Enfield Hunter 350 saw a slight decline of 4.80%, with sales of 13,481 units, but still accounted for 17.82% of the total sales in this segment.
Royal Enfield Bullet 350 faced a sharp decline of 42.18%, with 8,660 units sold in August 2024, 6,318 units less than last year. Total sales of the Meteor 350 also fell by 21.34% to 6,785 units, indicating a shift in consumer preference for these models. Triumph 400 sold 3,328 units, a year-on-year increase of 3.87%. Bajaj Pulsar 400 entered the market with strong sales of 2,516 units and captured 3.33% share. New entrant Royal Enfield Ranger sold 2,205 units, further enriching Royal Enfield’s product range in this segment.
Royal Enfield Himalayan sales dropped significantly by 45.57% to 2,099 units. Jawa Yezdi (retail) also declined by 13.13% with 2,058 units sold, reflecting the challenging times faced by these adventure and retro models. The Honda H’Ness 350 suffered the biggest decline in the segment, down 52.18%, with only 1,653 units sold. On the other hand, Honda CB 350 contributed 1,459 units in August 2024, and Harley-Davidson X440 made its debut with sales of 885 units.
KTM 390 fell by 16.84%, with 711 units sold; Bajaj Dominar 400 fell by 15.10%, with 703 units sold. On a positive note, the Aprilia RS 457 entered the segment with 415 units sold and the Hero Mavrick also made its debut with 170 units sold. The Husqvarna 401 and Kawasaki Eliminator 400 contributed less to the segment, selling 48 and 6 units respectively.

In August 2024, India’s 350cc to 450cc motorcycle segment grew by 6.22% month-on-month, with total sales increasing to 75,632 units from 71,200 units in July. Royal Enfield Classic 350 led the segment with sales of 28,450 units, a growth of 33.11% from the previous month. Royal Enfield Hunter 350 registered a slight decline of 4.33% with 13,481 units sold. Royal Enfield Bullet 350 and Meteor 350 sales fell by 12.96% and 14.12% respectively, with 8,660 and 6,785 units sold respectively.
Triumph 400 sold 3,328 units, an increase of 7.32%. Bajaj Pulsar 400 sales fell by 24.67% with 2,516 units sold. Royal Enfield Ranger registered a significant growth of 50.10% with 2,205 units sold. Sales of Royal Enfield Himalayan fell by 24.20% to 2,099 units, while Jawa Yezdi (retail) registered a slight decline of 3.43% with 2,058 units sold.
Honda H’Ness 350 and Honda CB 350 performed strongly, with growth rates of 25.80% and 44.31% respectively, with sales of 1,653 and 1,459 units respectively. Harley-Davidson X440 increased by 8.46%, with 885 units sold. The sales of KTM 390 and Bajaj Dominar 400 increased by 19.90% and 21.21% respectively, with 711 and 703 units sold. Aprilia RS 457 sales dropped by 8.79%, with 415 units sold. Hero Mavrick sales fell by 36.80% to 170 units. Husqvarna 401 sales increased by 37.14%, with 48 units sold, and Kawasaki Eliminator 400 entered the market, with 6 units sold.
