from the beginning Porsche cars have always been a very popular choice in my car collecting hobby. To illustrate this point, the second car I owned was a 1968 912 Targa. There are several reasons why Porsches are so popular. First, they have a long racing tradition, with multiple wins and championships in every sports car series around the world, and driven by some of the world’s most famous drivers. Secondly, Porsche cars have very high build quality. Finally, they are very reliable and always seem to work.
Featured on AutoHunter is this 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Convertible. It’s for sale by a private seller in St. Marys, Georgia; the auction ends Thursday.
This 2005 911 is from the end of the 996 generation and has traveled approximately 51,000 miles since new. Seller provides including owner’s manual, service records, window sticker, CARFAX report, and clear title.

The exterior of this 911 Carrera 4 looks to be in excellent condition. It’s painted Carrara White and features a black convertible top, speed-activated rear spoiler and heated power mirrors. The seller notes that this Porsche Carrera 4 sustained minor damage to the rear and was appropriately restored and repainted in July 2021. The car is equipped with original 18-inch five-spoke Carrera alloy wheels with 225/40 front tires and 285/30 Michelin tires.

The interior of this Porsche Carrera 4, with its black leather upholstery and optional sport seats, includes an extra optional detail that I always love to see: embossed Porsche crests on the headrests. It also features color-matched rear seat covers, six-speed manual transmission, factory carbon fiber shift knob and matching handbrake lever.

Behind the passenger compartment is a 3.6-liter Porsche flat-six engine producing 315 horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 273 pound-feet of torque at 4,250 rpm. The car also features an optional Porsche stainless steel exhaust system. During the car’s most recent service in July 2024, it received a cooling system inspection, Porsche Level 1 testing and analysis, radiator hose replacement, a new engine oil pressure sensor/switch, and a cooling system flush and repair. One thing to note is that this 911 requires new actuators to operate the convertible top. The seller had the issues inspected and quoted a cost of $4,500 to correct them.

This 2005 911 Carrera 4 is the perfect car for those who want to buy a Porsche to enjoy driving, but aren’t afraid to deal with a few minor issues. It’s a great entry point into the world of the Porsche 911, a car you can easily drive and enjoy every day.
The auction for this 2005 Porsche Carrera 4 Cabriolet will end on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 11:45 AM (PDT).
