While 007’s car was equipped with smoke screens and ejection seats, the DB12 Goldfinger aims to provide a “more indulgent” driving experience, incorporating subtle details from the film. It all starts on the outside, as the model is dressed in a silver birch exterior that echoes the look on the movie car. Designers also created unique 21-inch wheels with black brake calipers. They are connected by gold side panels, silver and black Aston Martin logos and Q fender badges.
Upgrades continue inside the cabin, with leather seats “in classic DB5 fluted style with an intricate Prince of Wales check perforation pattern that pays homage to the classic James Bond suit.” The perforation pattern can also be found on the roof Found on the interior lining, doors and running boards. The latter is also famous for having a plaque that reads “Sixty Years of 60ldfinger”.
To appeal to the gold-fingered among us, the interior features 18K gold-plated accents and a gear selector inspired by the gold tracking devices used in the movie. Elsewhere, there’s sleek carbon fiber trim and gold metallic accents. The designers also added an embroidered “Eight of Hearts” on the driver’s visor, which “references the playing cards seen in the final draw in the famous Miami pool scene.”
Only 60 units will be produced globally, and each will come with a series of “gifts as unique as the car itself.” These include a custom car cover, key display box, Silver Birch Speedform model and “part of the iconic Furka Pass scene from the 35mm film Goldfinger.”
The latter is an interesting touch, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg, as buyers will also receive a limited-edition magazine and a bottle of 2007 Bollinger Champagne, as well as four unique Bollinger 007 glasses, served in In a custom Globe-Trotter flight case. Other gifts include a Globe-Trotter briefcase made of silver birch with Prince of Wales check interior.
Deliveries are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2025, and power will be provided by a Mercedes-sourced twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine with 671 hp (500 kW / 680 PS) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. This enables the standard model to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.6 seconds before reaching a top speed of 202 mph (325 km/h).
Marco Matticacci, chief brand and commercial officer of Aston Martin Lagonda, said: “This is an incredible opportunity to celebrate six decades of this partnership with an extraordinary special edition and celebrate the first – perhaps the most famous Aston Martin Bond tribute car. Combining these subtle yet impactful styles developed by our own ‘Q’ department creates a very unique product; one that will be loved by Bond fans worldwide. “
