It’s not every day that you get the opportunity to repair a car like this.
The Porsche 911 GT3RS is often referred to as “Porsche’s last true analog driving car” and is ranked as one of the 10 rarest Rennsport Porsche 911s ever. The best part? Our customer brought it to us to be wrapped in XPEL Ultimate Paint Protection Film because he plans to do what this car was originally designed for – drive it!
It all starts with a wash and clay treatment, a process where we remove dirt, grime and other contaminants from the paint and see what is really underneath the paint that needs to be addressed.
Next up is paint correction. This step removes scratches, swirls and other imperfections in the paint. Without this step, you will seal any paint issues under a protective layer. You want perfection, then protection. No matter what kind of protection you decide to use – whether it’s paint protection film, ceramic coating or a combination of the two, paint correction is the most important step.
After paint correction, XPEL Ultimate is laid on the car and carefully adjusted to fit. When installing PPF, our first goal is to make the film virtually invisible on the car. Our goal is to protect the car without destroying its natural beauty.
Anyone who has been to our shop probably knows that we have a model of this car on the bookshelf in the lobby. We are all car enthusiasts and cars like this remind us why we love it. This GT3RS is stunning in every way and perfect in its own right. When restoring cars like this, we don’t want to change them, we want to keep them. We rushed the whole job and completed it in a single day as the owner planned to drive it over 1,000 miles in the next few days, but trust us when we say we wish we had kept it longer.
