U.S. hotel results for the week ended October 12

The U.S. hotel industry reported positive year-over-year comparisons, helped by the Columbus Day holiday, according to CoStar’s latest data as of Oct. 12. CoStar is the leading provider of online real estate markets, information and analysis for the real estate market.

October 6-12, 2024 (percent change compared to the same period in 2023):

• Occupancy rate: 70.3% (+2.4%)
• Average Daily Rate (ADR): $166.88 (+1.4%)
• RevPAR: $117.28 (+3.8%)

Among the top 25 markets, New Orleans had the largest performance improvement in each of three key performance indicators: occupancy (+20.1% to 75.6%), ADR (+13.1% to $194.70) and RevPAR (+13.1% to $194.70) +35.9% to $147.18) ). Market performance is driven by the Water Environment Federation’s technical exhibitions and conferences.

Atlanta had the second-highest increases in occupancy (+15.6% to 77.5%) and RevPAR (+20.6% to $102.59) due to Hurricane Milton’s displacement needs.

The largest declines in RevPAR were in Oahu (-10.3% to $218.20) and Tampa (-9.8% to $88.67), the latter due to the impact of Hurricane Milton.
