India to recall over 90,000 Honda cars

The recall will affect Honda cars produced in India between 2017 and 2018

If you own a Honda car manufactured in India between August 2017 and June 2018, Honda has voluntarily recalled 92,672 units of the Amaze, City, BR-V, Jazz, WR-V and Brio models. The reason behind this is that the fuel pump has an underlying issue with a defective impeller, which Honda will replace for free.

Of this list of over 90,000 cars, 2,204 are older models (Accord, Amaze, Brio, BR-V, City, Civic, Jazz, WR-V) that may have had this defective part previously Replaced as spare parts. Those wondering whether their car is part of the affected batch can contact their nearest Honda dealer or enter their car’s Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the Honda website (www.hondacarindia.com). Additionally, Honda recommends owners who purchased a fuel pump assembly from any Honda dealer between June 2017 and October 2023 to check whether their vehicle is affected.

Honda’s recall process will begin on November 5, 2024, and Honda dealers will contact owners of cars with the above problems. The positive news here is that almost all the cars affected by the fuel pump issue have either been discontinued or have been updated in India. Honda’s car portfolio in the country currently includes Amaze, Elevate and City.
