Indian 350cc to 450cc motorcycle segment recorded impressive growth in October 2024 with total sales increasing by 26.51% year-on-year
Sales in this segment were 1,14,979 units as compared to 90,888 units in October 2023. Led by Royal Enfield, the category is showing strong momentum, driven by both established favorites and new entrants. Royal Enfield continued to maintain its leading position, with its Classic 350 becoming the best-selling model with sales of 38,297 units, a year-on-year increase of 20.06%. The recently updated Bullet 350 grew 57.32% year-on-year, with sales reaching 22,491 units, becoming the fastest-growing model in this segment.

Similarly, the Hunter 350 continued to maintain its popularity with 21,350 units, an increase of 20.40% over the same period last year. Meteor 350 also contributed to stable sales of 11,136 units, a slight increase of 9.81%. In addition, sales of Royal Enfield’s latest product, the Guerrilla 450, reached 1,584 units, further strengthening the brand’s market position.
The Jawa Yezdi brand under Classic Legends grew 50.58% year-on-year, with sales reaching 4,180 units. Triumph’s entry into this market segment, the 400 model, also performed well, with sales reaching 4,005 units, an increase of 17.52%. Honda, on the other hand, had a mixed performance. H’Ness 350 sales fell slightly by 3.88% to 2,771 units, while the new CB 350 sold 1,838 units, underscoring Honda’s potential to expand its presence in this segment.
Sales of the Harley X440, which had performed well earlier, fell 11.82% year-on-year to 2,200 units. Among the newly added models, Aprilia RS 457 sales reached 351 units, while Hero Mavrick sales were 196 units. However, some models faced challenges, such as the KTM 390, which fell sharply by 67.37% year-on-year, with sales of only 513 units compared to 1,572 units in the same period last year. Bajaj Dominar 400 also saw a decline of 29.17%, while Husqvarna 401 sold 46 units. The Ninja/Eliminator 400 struggled, with only 7 units sold, down 85.42% year-on-year.

Following the year-on-year analysis, the month-on-month (MoM) comparison for the 350cc to 450cc motorcycle segment in October 2024 further highlights the dynamic growth of the market. The total month-on-month sales surged by 27.95%, with 1,14,979 units sold in October as compared to 89,865 units in September 2024. This impressive growth can be attributed to increased consumer enthusiasm during the festive season and strong performance of key models.
Royal Enfield continued to maintain its market dominance with strong sequential growth across most of its product lines. Sales of the Classic 350, the leader in this segment, increased by 15.82%, with sales of 38,297 units. Sales of the updated Bullet 350 increased significantly by 74.34% with 22,491 units sold as compared to 12,901 units sold in September. Hunter 350 sales grew by 22.66%, while Meteor 350 sales grew by 28.52%, reflecting strong demand across Royal Enfield’s product portfolio. However, sales of Guerrilla 450 declined slightly, down 4.41% month-on-month.
The performance of Jawa Yezdi is particularly eye-catching, with sales nearly doubling month-on-month to 4,180 units, an increase of 96.71%. Triumph’s 400cc model also registered a healthy growth of 17.41% with 4,005 units sold. Both Honda H’Ness 350 and CB 350 showed strong growth, with sales increasing by 35.30% and 47.99% respectively. Despite previous challenges, Harley-Davidson X440 sales increased by 52.57% to 2,200 units, while Royal Enfield Himalayan sales increased by 21.22% to 2,199 units.
Among new entrants, Aprilia RS 457 continued to attract attention, with a month-on-month growth of 31.46% and 351 units sold. Hero Mavrick and Husqvarna 401 also posted growth figures of 15.98% and 24.32% respectively. Even Kawasaki’s Ninja/Eliminator 400, although the number is not large, sales increased by 40% month-on-month. On the other hand, Bajaj Pulsar 400 and Dominar 400 faced a tough time with sales falling by 37.70% and 37.91% respectively. KTM 390 sales also fell by 26.19%, reflecting the challenges faced by these models amid increasing competition.
