Tata Motors ranked third in the sales rankings in November 2024, with sales increasing by 2% year-on-year, while month-on-month sales fell by the same percentage
In November 2024, Tata Motors ranked third in the automaker sales rankings, behind Maruti and Hyundai. The automaker currently holds 13.4% of the market, with sales in the past month rising slightly by 2% year-on-year to 47,063 units, which is 2% higher than the 46,070 units sold in November 2023. Like all other OEMs, its sequential results also declined due to lower sales volume 2% of 48,133 units sold in October 2024.
However, despite the slowdown, a quick look at the car sales list for November 2024 shows that Tata Motors has recorded the smallest decline in sales on a month-on-month basis. Sales at most other OEMs fell by double digits sequentially. Tata Motors also jumped to third place from fourth position in October 2024, surpassing Mahindra by 841 units.
Tata Sales Breakdown November 2024
Sales in the past month were 47,063 units, up 2% from the 46,070 units sold in November 2023. However, compared with 48,133 units sold in October 2024, month-on-month sales were down 2%. Tata Motors is now offering generous year-end discounts to clear its inventory. Discounts of up to Rs 3.50 lakh on the 2023 Harrier and Safari are sure to give a big boost to sales in the coming month.
Tata Bunche topped the car sales list with sales of 15,435 units last month. Showing positive year-on-year momentum, sales increased 7% from 14,383 units in November 2023. Month-on-month sales fell 2% from 15,740 units in October 2024.
It is followed by Nexon with sales of 15,329 units in November 2024. Compared with 14,916 units in November 2023, sales increased slightly by 3%, while month-on-month sales also increased by 4% from 14,759 units in October 2024. Tiago suffered a loss. Demand fell 3% year-on-year, from 5,508 units sold in November to 5,319 units in 2023. Its month-on-month performance increased significantly by 14% from the 4,682 units sold in October 2024. Tata plans to revamp the Tiago and Tigor and may launch them in 2025.
The recently launched Tata Curvv in the compact SUV segment recorded sales of 5,101 units last month. However, sales fell 5% from 5,351 units in October 2024. New models are being planned, which could play a big role in driving sales higher. Tata Altroz sales were sluggish last month with sales falling to 2,083 units. It dropped significantly by 58% year-on-year, and month-on-month sales also dropped by 21%.
Tata Safari, Harrier and Tigor – YoY and QoQ decline
Tata Motors’ Safari, Harrier and Tigor, which are at the bottom of the sales rankings, have seen a decline in demand. Safari sales fell 29% year-on-year and 25% month-on-month to 1,563 units. 2,270 units and 2,086 units were sold in November 2023 and October 2024 respectively. Harrier sales also fell 41% year-on-year and 29% month-on-month to 1,374 units, while Tigor fell 52% year-on-year last month to sell only 859 units compared with 1,775 units sold in November 2023. Month-on-month sales fell 7%, exceeding October 2024 sales of 926 units.
