Skoda Kylaq opens for pre-order today, with deliveries starting from January 27
Skoda Kylaq launched with prices starting at Rs. The base Classic trim is priced at Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom) and the range extends to Rs. The top-spec Prestige automatic variant is priced at Rs 14.40 lakh (ex-showroom). Kylaq will be available for pre-order from 4pm today, with deliveries starting on January 27, 2025.
Pricing and variations
Kylaq is available in four styles: Classic, Signature, Signature+ and Prestige. Prices for the base Classic trim start at Rs. 7.89 Lakhs, while the top-spec Prestige trim with automatic transmission is priced at Rs. 14.4 million. Customers can choose from seven exterior colors: Tornado Red, Brilliant Silver, Candy White, Carbon Steel, Lava Blue, Deep Sea Black and Olive Gold.
Powertrain and performance
The Kylaq is powered by a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine that produces 115 hp and 178 Nm of torque. The engine comes with either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Skoda claims the Kylaq can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 10.5 seconds. The top-spec Prestige automatic version also comes with paddle shifters, adding to the sporty feel.
Characteristics of various decorations
- classic decoration: This entry-level model comes with six airbags, tilt and telescopic steering, electrically adjustable mirrors and full LED lighting. However, it does not offer an automatic transmission.
- iconic decoration: Key features include 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, tire pressure monitoring, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted controls and rear air conditioning vents.
- signature + trim: Enhancements include a larger 10.1-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capabilities, an 8-inch Virtual Cockpit display, climate control, a rearview camera and power-folding mirrors.
- noble decoration: The top variant comes with premium features such as a single-pane sunroof, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, automatic headlights and wipers, LED fog lights with cornering function, LED projector headlights and ambient lighting.
Warranty and special offers
Kylaq comes with a standard warranty of 3 years or 1,00,000 km, whichever is earlier. Additionally, the first 33,333 customers will benefit from a special maintenance package that reduces running costs to Rs. 0.24/km, according to Skoda.
Competition and market positioning
Kylaq enters a highly competitive segment and competes with Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Tata Nexon. Skoda aims to carve out its niche with feature-rich products, turbocharged powertrains and competitive pricing.
The Kylaq is available for pre-order starting today, with deliveries scheduled for early next year, and looks set to attract a lot of attention in the compact SUV market.
