With huge demand in the international market, the Made-in-India Fronx has become one of the most exported cars from India

Maruti Fronx was launched in India in April 2023 and has become a best-seller in the domestic and international markets. This subcompact crossover SUV is popular for its sporty styling and powerful performance. The combination of Fronx and Brezza even surpassed the Punch/Nexon duo in Q3 2024.

Maruti Fronx gets 9,000 orders in Japan

The Made in India Maruti Fronx will be introduced in the Japanese market in October 2024. The crossover is sold under the Suzuki brand in Japan. It was revealed at the press conference that the cumulative order volume of Fronx is 9,000 units. This is 9 times Suzuki’s expected monthly volume. Fronx exports from India in October were 7,070 units. Exports accounted for 11.49% that month.

In the domestic market, Fronx also set a new record. The fastest to reach the cumulative sales milestone of 200,000 units. In the sub-40 lakh segment, Maruti Fronx was the second best-selling vehicle in October. Sales volume was 16,419 units, with a market share of over 15%.

Why is Fronx so popular?

There are several reasons why Fronx is gaining popularity in domestic and international markets. A striking front fascia, prominent grille, sharp LED daytime running lights, precision-cut alloy wheels and fully LED connected rear combination lights create an impressive road presence. The coupe-style aerodynamic rear further ensures the Fronx’s unique silhouette in the sub-4m segment. Maruti Fronx also comes with a comprehensive range of premium features.

Some of the key highlights include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, head-up display, wireless charger and 360° view camera. Other features include rear AC vents, steering-mounted controls, cruise control and rear fast-charging USB. There’s automatic climate control, paddle shifters, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, and a tire repair kit. Safety kit is robust, with features such as electronic stability programme, hill hold assist and reverse parking sensors with infographic display. The Suzuki Connect package offers a variety of connectivity features.

Performance and pricing

In India, Fronx is available with 1.2-litre K-series petrol engine and 1.0-litre K-series turbo-petrol engine. The former produces 89.73 PS and 113 Nm, while the turbo unit produces 100.06 PS and 147.6 Nm. The gearbox selection for the 1.2-liter engine is 5MT/5AMT, and the gearbox selection for the turbine engine is 5MT/6AT. In Japan, the Fronx comes with a 1.5-liter K15C engine. This is the same usage as Brezza. The intelligent hybrid system produces 103.1 PS and 136.8 Nm.

Competitive pricing is another key reason behind the growing popularity of Maruti Fronx. In Japan, the price range of the Fronx is 2,541,000 yen (Rs 14.25 million) to 2,739,000 yen (Rs 15.36 million). In India, the base Fronx price starts at Rs 7.52 lakh. The top variant starts at Rs 9.38 lakh.
