Hyundai’s next-generation Palisade has just been revealed, and while it hasn’t quite revealed all of its secrets, a little digging (and some good ol’ Instagram leaks) gave us a glimpse of it in its chunkier, Range Rover-inspired guise The skin of what is cooking. Spoiler alert: The lineup will reportedly include petrol and hybrid options, but not diesel.

The new Palisade is significantly different in design from its predecessor, adopting a boxier, more upscale look. A fresh look is combined with a more premium cabin inspired by high-end furnishings. In addition, the Korean-spec model will be available in a nine-seat three-row configuration with an extra small seat in the front, allowing owners to drive in bus lanes.
Longer, roomier, more Range Rover-like
According to Instagram @owners__club, the 2026 Palisade is 5,050 mm (198.8 inches) long. That’s a full 55 mm (2.2 inches) longer than the outgoing version. No, two extra inches might not sound like much, but ask anyone who’s ever tried to parallel park in the city—it’s a big deal. It’s also only 10 mm (0.4 inches) smaller than the Hyundai Ioniq 9 EV, proving that size bloat exists across the entire lineup.

The wheelbase has reportedly been extended to 2,970 mm (116.9 inches), an increase of a full 70 mm (2.8 inches). Shorter front overhangs and a longer rear end complete the look, giving the Palisade some very Land Rover Range Rover Proportion. Whether it’s an homage or a parody, we’ll let you decide.
Goodbye diesel, hello hybrid
The new Hyundai Palisade is expected to stick with an updated version of its current unibody platform, but the powertrain lineup is getting a much-needed update. Keep in mind that the leaker is referring to the Korean and Asian market versions here, so specs and availability may vary elsewhere. According to them, the old 3.8-liter V6 engine has been discontinued and replaced by a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 with 276 hp (206 kW / 280 hp). Joining them is a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine delivering a slightly more powerful 286 hp (213 kW / 290 hp).

As for Korean diesel fans? Well, with Hyundai officially discontinuing it, it’s time to pour out a glass. North America wouldn’t care as a diesel option was never offered here. You can’t miss something you never had.
But don’t worry, there is a silver lining for productivity freaks. The hybrid version is expected to deliver a more powerful 330 hp (246 kW / 334 PS), while also offering a claimed range of up to 1,020 km (634 miles) thanks to the combined efforts of the combustion engine and electric motor. That’s pretty impressive for a bus-sized SUV, and should help you feel a little better about all the space you’re taking up on the road.
What about in the United States?
As for North America, Hyundai’s rival models such as the Mazda CX-90, Honda Pilot and Toyota Grand Highlander have yet to be officially detailed. However, it will likely come with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, possibly in hybrid and/or plug-in hybrid versions. Whether a V6 engine will appear here remains to be seen.
