— Kia is recalling 2025 Sorento plug-in hybrid electric vehicles because the steering rack could damage fuel lines in a crash impact.
This could cause fuel leaks and fires in the 1,400 recalled vehicles.
Kia discovered the problem during frontal crash testing of the 2026 Sorento.
“While testing a Sorento plug-in hybrid (PHEV) equipped with Rack-Mounted Motor Driven Power Steering (R-MDPS), the subframe shifted, causing the steering rack to contact and damage the fuel line, resulting in Fuel leak.” — hurry up
Once the recall letter is mailed out on January 10, 2025, Kia dealers will install caps around the fuel lines.
Sorento PHEV owners with questions are asked to call 800-333-4542 and ask for recall number SC328.
