Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) announced its Vision 3.0 strategy earlier this year, in which the company plans to increase production capacity and expand its SUV and EV (electric vehicle) portfolio by FY2031. As part of the third phase of growth, MSI will launch ten new models, including the already launched new Swift and Dzire. this Maruti e-Vitara It will be the company’s first electric vehicle and is scheduled to be launched in 2025. After the e-Vitara, Maruti will launch a new three-row SUV that will directly compete with the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus. Maruti 7-seater SUV: design & interior
The design and styling of the Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater SUV will be similar to its 5-seater counterpart, but will undoubtedly be longer and roomier. The SUV is likely to get newly designed alloy wheels and some minor cosmetic changes to set it apart. Key design elements such as the chrome hexagonal grille, bumper-mounted headlight clusters, three-point LED daytime running lights, thick body cladding and sculpted body side panels are expected to be retained. At the rear, the 7-seat version is likely to get a full-width LED light bar on the tailgate and taillights integrated into the rear bumper.
The interior will have a familiar layout, with most features borrowed from the 5-seat Grand Vitara. It is expected to retain the 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, 7-inch fully digital instrument panel, head-up display (HUD), wireless charger, Arkamys sound system, door ambient lights, ventilated front seats, artificial leather interior, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree cameras, hill descent control, six airbags and a tire pressure monitoring system. Maruti Suzuki may add more features to make the product more premium.
Maruti 7-seater SUV: engine options
Under the hood, the upcoming Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater SUV will share powertrain options with the 5-seater version. These include a 1.5-liter K15C gasoline mild-hybrid engine that produces 103 horsepower, and a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder Atkinson cycle gasoline engine with an electric motor that produces 115 horsepower. Transmission options for the mild hybrid version will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic, while the strong hybrid setup will come with an e-CVT gearbox. An all-wheel drive (AWD) system will also be available. In the Grand Vitara 5-seater, the fuel efficiency of these powertrains is 21.11kmpl (MT), 20.58kmpl (AT), 19.38kmpl (MT-AWD) and 27.97kmpl (strong hybrid). However, fuel efficiency figures may change slightly for the seven-seat version due to its larger size and increased curb weight.
Maruti 7-seater SUV: expected price
Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater SUV will be the first model to be produced at Maruti Suzuki’s new Halhoda plant. In terms of pricing, the three-row SUV is expected to cost around Rs 150,000 to Rs 200,000 more than the five-seater Grand Vitara, which currently retails in the range of Rs 10.87 lakh to Rs 19.97 lakh (ex-showroom). The top-end trim of this 7-seater SUV is expected to cost up to Rs 25 lakh (on-road).
