Tata Motors continues to dominate EV segment despite 17.71% year-on-year decline in November 2024
India’s electric vehicle market has been slow to develop due to limited vehicle models. There are many factors contributing to this trend, including lack of charging infrastructure, range issues and the higher sticker costs of vehicles compared to internal combustion engine models. Carmakers are gearing up to launch various new models for the mass-market electric vehicle segment, which will be launched next year and we will see new players like Maruti Suzuki and Toyota. In this article, we take a look at electric car sales in November 2024.
The total sales of electric vehicles in November 2024 were 8,668 units, a year-on-year increase of 14.58%. On the other hand, MOM analysis showed that the segment fell by 18.30%. Tata Motors still topped the list with sales of 4,224 units, but the overall year-on-year decline was 17.71%.
The Indian carmaker’s product lineup includes sports models such as Punch EV, Nexon EV and Curvv. In second place is MG, with sales of 3,163 units last month. A year-on-year increase of 230.86% was attributed to the launch of the new MG Windsor, which contributed a considerable proportion. Comet EV and ZS EV are also part of the brand’s product line.
