Hyundai offers free Tesla Supercharger adapter

  • Hyundai EV owners will be able to apply for a free NACS adapter early next year.
  • Eligible vehicles include the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 5 N, Ioniq 6, Kona Electric, and even an older Ioniq Electric.
  • Genesis will also provide free adapters to customers, with details about its plans to be announced in early 2025.

Hyundai electric car owners will get a North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapter as a last-minute Christmas gift. The service will be free for customers who purchase or lease an eligible vehicle on or before January 31, 2025.

The adapter will enable users to charge at more than 20,000 Tesla Superchargers. To obtain an adapter, owners will need to log into the MyHyundai portal and make a request starting in the first quarter of 2025. Hyundai will then ship the adapter for free.

If you accidentally lose the adapter or forget to request one, you can purchase it at a Hyundai dealer in the future.

In related news, Genesis announced it is also participating in the program. Details will be released early next year, but it’s likely to benefit owners of the GV60 and electric versions of the GV70 and G80.

Kia America announced their plans last fall and EV6 and EV9 owners will receive the adapter early next year. They will then access Tesla’s Supercharger network around January 15th.
