- Countless Ferraris, Porsches and other classic cars will be auctioned during Monterey Car Week.
- This 2008 Pontiac G6 GT Coupe will also be auctioned off.
- It’s fairly unremarkable, but has only 30,278 miles on the odometer.
At the Pebble Beach auction, you’ll find everything from an Indy car to a 1952 Chrysler Special Edition by Ghia. Bidders can also snap up a 1969 Ford GT40 lightweight race car, a Ferrari Enzo, a Porsche Carrera GT and a classic Mercedes gullwing.

While this is just the tip of the iceberg, there are still some weird cars to find. Perhaps the most baffling of these is this 2008 Pontiac G6 GT Coupe.

This G6, which will be auctioned by Mecum on August 15, is neither grand nor elegant nor unique. It’s not even a tepid GXP model or a hardtop convertible. And yet it has just 30,278 miles (48,728 kilometers) on the odometer.

Whether this will attract bidders remains to be seen, but the coupe’s CarFax record is clear and the car seems to be in pretty good condition. Although the details are sparse, the model is painted silver and has chrome five-spoke wheels.

Inside, the car had a 2+2 interior with black leather seats and lots of black plastic. A three-spoke steering wheel and occasional metal trim tied it all together. Judging by the old manual, the model also had air conditioning, cruise control, remote keyless entry, and an AM/FM radio with a CD player.
Although the G6 Coupe is not well known, Pontiac’s marketing team promises that the car will “fascinate customers” because it is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 219 hp (163 kW / 222 PS) and 219 lb-ft (297 Nm) of torque. It is paired with a four-speed automatic transmission because “performance calls for release.” The model also features a “sport-tuned” FE2 suspension with thicker stabilizers and enhanced steering rack bushings.
The car has no reserve price, but the auction house has not estimated its value. However, Kelley Blue Book puts it at less than $8,000. Of course, for older, low-mileage vehicles, these estimates are questionable.
