We are all eagerly awaiting the return of the iconic Renault Duster, which was discontinued in early 2022 due to poor sales. This time, India will receive the third generation of “Dust Collector”. According to new media reports, the new Avatar SUV will be put into production in September this year and is expected to be launched in early 2026.
Interestingly, the French carmaker will launch the new Renault Duster with a three-row seating layout (i.e. a seven-seat layout) at a later stage. Nissan will also launch 5- and 7-seat variants of the new Duster SUV. Renault-Nissan’s manufacturing plant in Chennai will serve as the production hub for all four SUVs to cater to the domestic and export markets.
New Renault Duster Features (Expected)
The new Duster will have a more upscale interior than its predecessor. The world premiere of the right-hand drive SUV is equipped with a 10.1-inch independent touch screen infotainment system, a three-spoke steering wheel, a 7-inch fully digital instrument panel, rear air-conditioning vents and other configurations, as well as a circular dial for the four-wheel drive selector. These features are expected to be included in the India-spec Duster as well.
The feature list is also expected to include wireless phone charging, a 6-speaker Arkamys 3D sound system, cruise control, multiple airbags, and more. An ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) suite will be available, featuring lane keeping assist, automatic emergency braking and other advanced safety technologies.
Most of its design elements are likely inspired by the Dacia Bigster concept car. The SUV is likely to feature Y-shaped daytime running lights, extensive plastic cladding on the wheel arches, 18-inch alloy wheels, C-pillar integrated rear door handles and Y-shaped LED tail lights.
New Renault Duster Engine (expected)
In India, the new Duster is likely to be powered by a 1.3L HR13 turbocharged petrol engine with an output of 156bhp. The Kiger’s 1.0L turbo-petrol engine may also be available, but in a tuned version. In addition, the low-end models of the SUV can be equipped with a 1.5L naturally aspirated gasoline engine.
