What is Latin NCAP?

The Latin New Car Assessment Program or Latin NCAP as we may know it is a program that evaluates vehicle safety standards. The main motive is to make people aware of the safety standards of vehicles. It not only improves safety standards but also evaluates vehicle safety and gives appropriate ratings.
Latin NCAP evaluates vehicles according to 4 protocols:
- adult occupant protection – Adult occupant protection scores are based on a car’s ability to protect adults inside from frontal, side and whiplash injuries.
- child occupant protection – This assessment is the basis for judging a vehicle’s compatibility with various child restraint devices of various sizes and designs, such as the CRS installation score. It also ensures that it has ISOFIX fastenings for child seats.
- security features – Check that the vehicle has the necessary safety features to prevent any accidents. These functions include ESC, ABS, etc.
- pedestrian safety – It evaluates the protection provided by a car’s safety features to vulnerable pedestrians.
Suzuki Baleno NCAP Latin NCAP Rating

Adult Occupant (8.01) –
Frontal collision: Provides good protection for the head and neck of the driver and passengers. The driver’s and passenger’s chests are adequately protected. The driver’s and one passenger’s knees showed limited protection as they could strike dangerous structures behind the fascia, the other passenger’s knees showed good protection. The driver’s shin showed adequate protection and the passenger’s shin showed good protection. The footwell area is rated stable. The body shell is rated as stable and capable of withstanding further loads.
Side impact: The head and pelvis are well protected; the abdomen is adequately protected, but the chest is poorly protected, resulting in a zero score for this test.
Sidebar Impact: This was not performed as the car did not have standard side head restraints.
Whipping: Poor performance. The car failed to prove the prerequisites for a rear-end collision (R32). AEB City: AEB City is not available on this car, even though it is optional. Rescue table: Not available
The child seat for 3-year-olds uses ISOFIX fastenings and support legs mounted backwards to prevent excessive forward movement of the head. Frontal and side impact protection are good. The Q1.5 is mounted rearwards using ISOFIX connectors and support legs, while providing good protection from frontal and side impacts.
The test’s CRS dynamic score is 0. There are ISOFIX fixing points on the outside of the rear of the car. The passenger airbag is disabled when rear-facing CRS on the passenger seat is not possible. Some CRS can be installed correctly in the desired location.
