

Motorcycle sales drop in December 2024, post double digits, mom pulls away from growth
In the last month of 2024, the motorcycle sector faces challenges. Following our previous report on the top 10 wheeler sales, we now assess the motorcycle segment and its performance over the past month. This is not a new phenomenon. Typically, buyers postpone purchases until the New Year when new products mark their entry into the segment. However, there is also a youthful growth in timing this time around, which raises some concerns for bike manufacturers. At Bharat Mobility Global 2025, there were a plethora of two-wheeler launches, reveals and concepts. Some of them will hit the market in the coming months.
Motorcycle sales on December 10, 2024
The sales of motorcycles fell by 12.21% to 5,32,587 units in December 2024. This is a decline of 74,065 units sold from 6,06,652 units sold in December 2023. 2024. This is related to the 2,78,087 unit inclination of the volume.

The Shine is also the first two-wheeler in the country to post sales figures, albeit negative, compared to the Honda Shine’s No. 2 model. Brilliant sales fell by 15.50% to 1,92,438 units, down from 2,27,748 units sold in December 2023. Currently, Splendor’s stake is 36.13%. Its mum sales fell by 34.51% from 2,93,828 units sold in November 2024.
Honda Shine is one of the best-selling motorcycles in India in the 125cc segment with year-on-year sales growth of 18.44%. Sales increased to 1,00,841 units in December 2024, up from 85,144 units sold in December 2023. However, MOM’s sales fell by 30.71% from 1,45,530 units sold in November 2024, resulting in a decline of 44,689 units.

At the third position is the Bajaj Pulsar range, which has aged and degraded just 65,571 units in December 2024. These figures, in comparison, compare to 1,06,734 units sold in December 2023, which is a yoy and 42.72% mom decline. Pulsar’s market share also dropped to 12.31% from 14.12% in December 2024. Sales of the HF Deluxe also dropped significantly to 41,713 units. That’s 31.68% year-over-year, with Mom down 31.89%.
Re Classic 350 – Yoy and Mom’s Growth
Next is the RE Classic 350, which is the only bike in this list to show improvement in sales. Sales last month increased by 39.57% to 29,637 units, an increase of 8,403 units from the 21,234 units sold in December 2023. Mom’s sales also witnessed a growth of 7.72%. Royal Enfield has just added the new SCRAM 440 with its 443 cc engine producing 25 hp in its Indian lineup.
Even as sales of the Bajaj Platina declined by 2.22% to 25,584 units, its mom-and-pop performance achieved a growth of 42.61% with sales of 44,578 units in November 2024. Mom sales were down 31.58% from the 30,678 units sold in November 2024.
The lower sales list was the Apache at 2.89% year-over-year, with the MOM down 41.35% to 20,885 units. This was followed by the Xtreme 125R, which sold 17,473 units last month. This relatively new entrant in the segment saw a decline of 31.36% in moms.
TV players lagged behind with 17,454 unit sales in the past month. It has the largest decline on the list with a 55.75% decline, with 17,454 units sold in December 2024, down from 39,443 units sold in the same month last year. In November 2024, his mother’s performance also ended with negative votes at 45.06%.
