– BMW recalled over 40,000 models of 2022-2024 X3 SDRIVE30I and X3 XDRIVE30I vehicles due to door lock issues.
BMW says the second-row seat side door lock module may not work properly, which allows the door to be unlocked with one motion. This violates federal security standards.
“On potentially affected vehicles, the second row of seat side doors do not require separate actions to unlock and (via the inner door handle) opens the door, so this may increase the risk of safety for rear seat occupants.”
BMW is not aware of any warranty claims, complaints or on-site reports.
BMW’s recall letter is expected to be sent on April 14, 2025, and the dealer plans to replace the second row of seat side door lock modules.
BMW X3 SDRIVE30I and X3 XDRIVE30I owners can call 800-525-7417.
