Ola electric motorcycle officially debuts

Ola Electric is gearing up for its debut in the electric motorcycle industry. The brand has confirmed that several new products, including the much-anticipated electric motorcycle, will hit the Indian market on August 15. CEO Bhavish Aggarwal shared the first teaser of the model, giving a sneak peek at the motorcycle’s design language, including twin-pod LED headlights and unique rear-view mirrors. “The future of motorcycles is here. Join us on August 15!” he said on his social media handle ‘X’. Here’s all we can decipher from the teaser.

It is not obvious what type of motorcycle is shown in the trailer. However, the front design of the motorcycle is different from all four electric concept motorcycles that the company unveiled in August last year. Two LED lights and an LED light strip placed horizontally above the LEDs can be seen on the motorcycle in the trailer. It also seems to have a rather large headlight cover, although it may be a windshield. The model can also be seen in the official trailer, and its angular fuel tank cover gives it the appearance of a street motorcycle. Moreover, the handlebars appear to be a single piece and are positioned quite upright.

Ola Electric Scooter: What do we know so far?

Ola Electric has previously stated that the company will launch its first electric bike in India next year. The statement was made during the board’s recent press conference, which included an announcement regarding Ola’s IPO listing. Although limited details are available at the moment, we expect the upcoming Ola model to be a premium product. Hence, the two-wheeler producer may launch a feature-rich model before releasing more affordable models. This will enable the company to launch a new range of electric bikes and increase the number of Indian consumers who buy it when the price drops due to changes in amenities and battery capacity.

Aggarwal claims that in-house designed EV batteries will power Ola Electric’s upcoming electric motorcycle. According to the manufacturer, these batteries will be the largest ever in an electric motorcycle in India. “From 2025 onwards, Ola Electric will start using in-house developed EV batteries. Also, we will start selling our electric motorcycle.” Upon launch in India, the Ola electric motorcycle is expected to directly compete with the Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 and Matter Aera.
