SUV under 4 meters Details

Skoda has seen a significant sales increase after launching its first India-specific mid-size SUV, the Kushaq. Skoda has now entered the hottest segment in India, the sub-4-meter SUV segment. Quality and equipment have always been Skoda’s selling points. This new compact SUV is no exception. It is expected to continue Skoda’s strengths. Sales will be the obvious follow-up effect. We tried to get an insight into what people expect from this new car.

design

Skoda Auto has always been known for its elegant and simple design. The new compact SUV is expected to adopt the same design language. Some spy photos show the exquisite and iconic “butterfly front grille”. The newly exposed pictures highlight the bold lines of the front hood and wheel arches. The design will retain the typical front design language of Skoda SUVs and add details such as exquisite and precise DRL light signature.

The rear part shows the design of the taillights. There is no light bar connecting the taillights. This is a very traditional approach of Skoda.

The design is mainly traditional. This car seems to be aimed at the mass market. Its appearance is very elegant and will definitely become a new choice in this segment.

platform

The upcoming compact SUV is based on the MQB-A0-IN platform on Skoda’s 2.0 products. The MQB-A0-IN platform has been developed specifically for India. It is a very safe and capable platform. Kushaq, Taigun, Slavia and Virtus are all cars based on this platform that have received 5-star ratings for both adults and children in the safety tests of Global NCAP.

name

Skoda Auto India has announced that they will name their new compact SUV based on people’s suggestions. They have also announced a competition where the name chosen from all the suggestions will win the car. Skoda has shortlisted 10 names for its upcoming compact SUV. The 10 names are Kwiq, Kymaq, Kylaq, Kariq, Kyroq, Kosmiq, Kayaq, Kaiq, Kliq and Karmiq.

We see a pattern that starts with “K” and ends with “Q”.

Localization Plan

Skoda India wants this SUV to be competitive in terms of pricing. They have decided to localize the components. They also want to export the compact SUV manufactured in India to other neighboring countries.

“The sub-four-metre SUV will have 75-76 per cent localisation. It will be priced to take advantage of excise duty benefits and pass it on to customers. What we will do differently is to learn from the lessons learned so far,” said Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Skoda Auto.

This engine is well known for its reliability and efficiency. The new compact SUV is smaller and lighter. Compared to the larger Skoda with the same engine, this engine will feel more powerful and efficient.
