There is one thing about vintage cars that can’t be replicated: history. It’s true that they don’t make them the way they used to. You might be able to find a 1963 Studebaker Avanti with low mileage and one owner, but new ones will never roll off the production line. However, there are many things about vintage cars that can be replicated. improveThat’s why cars like this LS3-powered 1957 Chevrolet Corvette replica exist.
If you look at a 10-year-old car, you’ll notice that it has changed a lot since it was built. Engine output has increased, and many convenience, safety, and driver-assistance features have not only become more sophisticated, but many of them have become standard. Now think about how much progress has been made since 1957. Nearly every part of a car has changed since then, from the type of paint and glass used to the braking hardware, from the lighting to the tires.
This C1 Corvette retains the gorgeous lines of the original and incorporates today’s features and amenities. The body was repainted in Seafoam Blue with Inca Silver grooves and features LED headlights and taillights and a Seafoam Blue hardtop (there’s a soft top too, but it’s not pictured here). The builder went big on the wheels, installing a set of 18-inch Evod Industries Classic 58 wheels wrapped in Diamond Back whitewall radial tires.
They even went under the hood and replaced the original chassis with an Art Morrison GT Sport chassis. To help this Vette stop and handle like a 21st century car, they installed a set of 13-inch Wilwood brakes with six-piston calipers, power rack-and-pinion steering, and an independent rear suspension. Removing this hardware won’t damage the dual-pull replica, as the seller includes a tool they made specifically for this purpose with the vehicle.
The cabin has been completely redesigned with a cream Al Knoch custom interior with waffle-pattern door panels and seat inserts. Technology upgrades include Viper keyless entry, power windows, Dakota Digital instrumentation, and a Bluetooth stereo. Not only will those who buy this car enjoy a stylish driving experience, but they will also enjoy comfort thanks to the Vintage Air climate control system.
Under the electric hood is something C6 Corvette owners will recognize: an LS3 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 430 horsepower. It draws gas from an aluminum fuel cell and transmits output through a 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission equipped with a Shiftworks shifter.
As you can imagine, this mechanical time travel doesn’t come cheap. The seller is asking $275,000 or the highest offer. That’s a lot of money, no doubt. The question you need to answer is whether it’s worth it for a classic Corvette with history. and An update after nearly 70 years?
