How was the decision to co-locate made?
“RAPID + TCT has traditionally been rolled out across the United States to ensure we reach those industries and communities that are already leveraging additive manufacturing (AM) or have increasing potential to leverage additive manufacturing (AM).” Steve Prahalis, Chief Operating Officer, SME. “We decided to announce a three-year North American tour in 2024, and once we committed to Detroit in 2025, it was a natural fit for us to partner with SAE International to combine RAPID + TCT with its WCX (World Congress Experience) because of the increase in the mobile space. The number of material manufacturing applications continues to increase.
“This is only amplified by the fact that American manufacturing companies are also bringing spring technical reviews and exchanges to Detroit. Michigan is also a growing center for defense and aerospace manufacturing, which prompted us to place the AeroDef Manufacturing event and conference with RAPID + TCT at the same location.”
This attracted more than 4,000 manufacturing enthusiasts, he said. “We believe connecting these audiences will lead to new opportunities and stronger relationships across North American manufacturing. These strategic partnerships demonstrate our investment in growing the additive manufacturing ecosystem, bringing together people from mobile, aerospace and A community of attendees, conference delegates, exhibitors and sponsors across multiple key manufacturing sectors including defense, healthcare and consumer products.”
Opportunities for cross-pollination will exist throughout the show. “Attendees of any event will have access to all exhibition spaces,” Prahalis explain. “Our AeroDef Manufacturing event will have its own exhibitors showcasing their products and services directly at the RAPID + TCT event venue. RAPID + TCT also includes a well-attended industry reception, so I’m sure we’ll also be watching In addition, our attendees will have access to WCX’s ride and drive features and access to America Makes’ membership showcase.
“Networking is one of the most important aspects of our events, as face-to-face connections drive manufacturing forward.”
