A lot has changed since the last ZR1 came out five years ago. Today’s most powerful cars are electric, and Corvette engines now push from behind the driver. Yet the ZR1 remains a race car with the spirit of a muscle car. The latest and most powerful version of Chevrolet’s C8 Corvette supercar line, the 2025 Corvette ZR1, has been unveiled.
The 2017 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is equipped with the most powerful V8 engine ever produced by the American automaker and is available in two body styles: coupe and convertible.
Small Block Chevrolet V-8 Engine
The new Corvette is equipped with a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine (LT7) with a flat-plane crankshaft. The LT7, like the LT6 in the Corvette Z06, has eight forged cylinders that spin a flat-plane crankshaft. This allows the engine to rev faster and higher, but also causes side-to-side vibrations that are enough to shake the oil filter off the V-8 if it is not stopped. The engine has been extensively modified, such as larger combustion chambers, an upgraded intake system, twin turbochargers integrated into the exhaust manifold, new head castings, and optimized valvetrain timing and lift curves.

Aerodynamic Design:
The 2025 Corvette ZR1 features a host of aerodynamic and design improvements. As part of the improvements, the car is equipped with a carbon fiber aerodynamic kit that generates 545 kg of downforce when driving at top speed. The kit also includes a flow-through hood, carbon fiber air ducts, a split rear window (a nod to early Corvette models), and front fresh air intakes. In addition, a ZTK performance package is available, which includes a large rear wing, front dive planes, a high hood gurney, and the ability to customize damper settings.
The ZR1 also features the largest Corvette brakes ever, with 400mm front discs and 390mm rear discs. Customers will have a wealth of options for interior and exterior personalization.
