The motorcycle features a classic, timeless design with a round headlamp, wide handlebars, a curvaceous fuel tank, retro-styled front and rear fenders and a round taillight. The latest spy shots show a dual-tone color scheme of maroon and cream, enhancing its retro appeal. It is likely to be offered with both wire spoke and alloy wheel options, keeping with the retro-meets-modern fusion that Royal Enfield is known for.

Powertrain and features

The Classic 650 will be powered by a 648cc parallel twin engine with 47 PS of power and 52.3 Nm of torque. This engine is shared with other 650cc models from Royal Enfield like the Interceptor and Continental GT. It is expected to offer smooth shifts and strong low-end performance, perfect for cruising. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and like other RE motorcycles, it is likely to have a similar exhaust note with the classic ‘bang-bang’ sound.

A tubular steel frame will support the motorcycle, providing optimal stability and a comfortable ride. Braking setup is likely to consist of 320 mm front disc and 300 mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS as standard. In terms of suspension, it features conventional telescopic front forks and rear twin shock absorbers with adjustable preload.

Pricing and Competition

The Royal Enfield Classic 650 is expected to be priced around Rs 3.5 lakh and is positioned as an affordable option in the REs range of 650cc motorcycles. Due to its competitive price, it is unlikely to offer premium features like USD forks or Tripper navigation pod as standard. However, the Tripper navigation pod may be offered through the brand’s Make It Yours (MIY) customization program.
