Aprilia Tuareg 457 rally bike spot test, based on RS 457

The Aprilia Tuareg 457 rally bike is yet to be officially unveiled. To stop us, spy shots of the bike have surfaced online, giving us a clear look at the racing prototype. Judging from the images, the prototype has a twin headlight unit, a navigation tower, an upswept exhaust pipe and engine casing borrowed from the RS 457. The latter suggests that the Tuareg 457 rally bike uses the RS 457’s parallel-twin engine, albeit in a slightly different state of tune. In the Aprilia RS 457, the engine produces 48 hp and 44 Nm of peak torque when connected to a 6-speed gearbox.

Aprilia Tuareg 457 Rally Bike: Hardware

Hardware-wise, the rally version of the Tuareg 457 shares a steel frame and aluminum swingarm with the larger Tuareg 660. The motorcycle appears to be equipped with long-travel suspension from an Ohlins setup – possibly a USD fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. For braking, it has a brake disc at each end. The bike comes with 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoke wheels and rides on rally-spec tires.

Road-legal Aprilia Tuareg 457 may debut at EICMA 2024

Although the left engine housing of the Tuareg 457 rally bike is very similar to the Aprilia RS 457, the road-oriented Tuareg 457 appears to be ready for the market. The production-spec Tuareg 457 is expected to differ from the rally version in terms of bike components to suit its characteristics. However, the setup is likely to be the same for 21-17 inch spoked wheels. The smaller Tuareg 457 is expected to adopt a similar design language to the Tuareg 660. In terms of instrumentation, the bike could be offered with a TFT instrument panel in the same color as the RS 457. The production-spec Tuareg 457 may be showcased at EICMA 2024.

While it’s not confirmed yet, Aprilia is expected to bring the Tuareg 457 to market sometime in 2025. If launched, the bike will rival the new generation KTM 390 Adventure and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.
