The Rizta, the first home electric scooter launched by Ather Energy in mid-2024, quickly became the brand’s best-selling model, accounting for 64.10% of Ather’s total sales over the past nine months. The shift in demand from a performance-oriented electric scooter to a family-friendly, practical electric car is evident as Rizta has accumulated 79,531 units of sales in the Ather’s lineup.
Since launch, Rizta leads Ather’s sales
Since its debut, the Ather Rizta has an average of 8,837 units per month, significantly surpassing Ather’s performance-oriented models such as the 450X and 450S. In February 2025, Rizta sold 9,019 units, continuing its strong market business.
Rizta (family scooter) – 79,531 units sold (64.10% shares)
450X (performance-oriented scooter) – 31,266 units sold (25.20% shares)
450S (Affordable alternative to the 450X) – 11,716 units sold (share is 9.44%)
450 Apex (New Premium Edition) – 1,557 units sold (1.25% share)

Demand for family scooters outweigh performance scooters
450X and 450S models that were once Ather’s flagship products Rizta’s appeal covers up Commuters to the city family. Although the 450x maintains a steady average of 3,474 units per month, the 450x lags behind, with an average of 1,302 units per month. The 450 apex introduced in recent months contributed only 1.25% of Ather’s total sales, showing limited traction in the high-performance electric scooter sector.
Sales trends over the past six months
Ather’s overall best-performing month was October 2024, when the company had 20,133 unit sales, with Rizta alone contributing 13,151 units, the highest monthly sales to date. January 2025 is another strong month, with 17,494 units sold in total, of which 11,978 are Rizta scooters.
Ather Energy’s sales data show that Indian consumers are increasingly prioritizing practicality, comfort and affordability compared to smaller/performance electric scooters. Strong sales from RIZTA show that demand for home-oriented electric scooters outweighs the advanced performance-centric model.
As Ather Energy continues to expand its coverage and production capacity, the company plans to introduce new electric scooters and motorcycles to the mass market, further cementing its presence in India’s growing EV space.
