Audi RS6 E-Tron Avant promises super wagon thrills in a zero-emission package
  • A prototype of the Audi RS6 E-Tron Avant was captured during development testing.
  • The performance flagship of the A6 E-tron range gets a more aggressive body kit.
  • The EV is rumored to produce 805 horsepower, while also receiving a number of handling-focused upgrades.

Audi’s RS6 is ready to enter the era of pure electric vehicles, as the internal combustion engine version will be renamed the RS7. The new RS6 E-tron is expected to debut next year, but our spy photographers have just spotted a camouflaged Avant-bodied prototype showing off its RS-specific body kit.

Spy photos of the Audi RS6 E-tron Avant first surfaced five months after we first saw a prototype of the same Sportback.

The practical version of the RS6 E-Tron shares the sportier front and rear bumpers with the Sportback, distinguishing the flagship Audi Sport model from the rest of the A6 E-Tron range. Highlights include the RS-specific air intakes at the front and the extra-large diffuser at the rear.

It’s not clear if the RS version will have wider fenders than the regular A6 E-tron Avant, but it will likely feature a wider track, larger wheels and tires. It’s also safe to assume the RS6 E-tron will ride on a lower, sportier suspension and have bigger brakes.

Like the entire A6 E-Tron range, the RS6 rides on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture developed in collaboration with Porsche.

While Audi hasn’t revealed any specifics, the RS6 E-Tron is rumored to produce 805 hp (600 kW / 816 PS) and drive all four wheels. That’s a significant increase over the S6 E-tron’s maximum output of 543 hp (405 kW / 551 PS) with launch control engaged.

As for the battery pack, the high-performance EV will likely continue to use a 100 kWh (94.4 kWh net) pack, which will give the base model a range of up to 466 miles (750 km). The 800V battery supports fast charging at up to 270 kW when connected to a compatible DC charger.

The Audi RS6 E-tron range is expected to debut in 2025 and go on sale in the second half of this year.
