AutoHunter Spotlight: 2002 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

Imagine having restraint Driving a 405-horsepower, six-speed manual Corvette has only driven about 2,000 miles in 23 years, especially in a place like Florida that loves sports cars year-round. The car we’re about to show you is an extremely unique example of American muscle. If the price is right, it can be yours.

This 2K mile 2002 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 appears on AutoHunter, an online auction platform powered by ClassicCars.com. The car is being sold by a dealer in Sarasota, Florida, and the auction will end on Tuesday.

The CARFAX report shows Florida ownership since new, and by 2004 when the car was two years old, it had traveled more than 1,100 miles. Things slowed down dramatically after that, with only about 800 people added over the next 20 years. While the AutoHunter listing doesn’t list specific details about how or where the car is stored, the photos speak for themselves, and this Electron Blue Metallic ‘Vette looks like it’s showroom fresh.

The fifth-generation Corvette (known as the C5) uses General Motors’ Y-body platform and is produced in Bowling Green, Kentucky for the 1997 to 2005 model years. While the base model was already a strong performer, the high-performance “Z06” launched in 2001 took it to the next level:

Under the hood of this low-mileage vehicle, power comes from a 5.7-liter LS6 V8 engine mated to a T-56 six-speed manual transmission. When new in 2002, Chevrolet rated the engine at 405 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.

In addition to the engine upgrades, some of the other changes to the Z06 include the use of a sport-tuned suspension, larger wheels and tires, different gear ratios, and functional brake cooling ducts. Some weight-saving measures also make the car about 128 pounds lighter than its contemporaries. This car is designed to drive, stop and steer better in every aspect.

A magazine ad for the Z06 said: “Some people will say this is too much: We have been working hard to make the Z06 lighter and stronger. They will say that the titanium exhaust can save 17 pounds, which is exaggerated. Well, the Z06 accelerates from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds and can handle 1 G of lateral acceleration, so be sure to give these guys a wave when you pass them on the track.”

Maybe you’ll be one of the lucky new owners to put 2,002 miles on the odometer on this 2002 Corvette. When you do, be sure to send us photos.

The auction for this 2,000 mile 2002 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will end on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM (MST)
