AutoHunter Spotlight: 2005 Cadillac XLR

Featured Automatic Hunteran online auction platform operated by ClassicCars.com, is this 2005 Cadillac XLR.

The Cadillac XLR is a fascinating car. Unlike the Allante that Cadillac introduced decades ago, the XLR is a stunning design, designed by my friend Kip Wasenko, that takes the strongest parts of Cadillac’s design language and puts them all into the design of a luxury GT car.

The XLR has a very nice body and is based on the C6 Corvette chassis, so it has an excellent foundation. In fact, the XLR was built at the same time as the C6 Corvette at GM’s plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

The problem at the time was that it was priced very close to the Mercedes SL500 and Jaguar XK8, which led many buyers to choose the European car over the new American one.

This is a shame because the XLR is a fantastic GT car and is very rare, with only 15,460 produced in total. In my opinion, this makes the XLR a future collector’s car that can be purchased now and enjoyed over the next decade as prices rise.

Today’s AutoHunter Focus Car is a 2005 Cadillac XLR powered by a 4.6L Northstar V8 engine mated to a five-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. It is finished in a stunning Satin Nickel color with a Shale Leather interior and is now being sold by the selling dealer with a clean CARFAX report and clear title. This car has been driven approximately 92,000 miles since new.

The paint appears to be in excellent condition and has no blemishes other than a couple small chips on the front bumper.

The interior looks great and has been well maintained. It features shale leather upholstery, eight-way power-adjustable heated and cooled seats, and eucalyptus wood trim.

The cars are well-equipped with features not found in many of Europe’s top cars. These include adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, an infotainment system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen, voice recognition, GPS navigation and Bulgari-designed instrumentation.

The XLR is powered by a 4.6-liter Northstar V8 engine that produces 320 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 310 pound-feet of torque at 4,400 rpm. This gives the car plenty of power for high-speed cross-country cruising and first-rate comfort for its passengers.

These cars are worth a lot right now, but if you want one, buy it sooner rather than later before the rest of the world wakes up.

The auction for this 2005 Cadillac XLR will end on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 11:45 AM (PDT).
