when saturn inc. Founded in 1991 as a subsidiary of General Motors, it was promoted as “a different kind of company. A different kind of car.” Although the company had its unique attributes (organizational culture, profit sharing, lifestyle, and independent dealerships) Internet), but one of its cars is very much like its sister car produced by Pontiac: the Solstice.
AutoHunter Featured, The online auction platform powered by ClassicCars.com is this 2008 Saturn Sky Roadster. The car is being sold by a private seller in Locust Grove, Virginia, and the auction will end on Tuesday.
The Sky and Solstice use GM’s “Kappa” platform, with the Solstice launched a model year earlier than the Sky. The Sky was styled by Franz von Holzhausen and sold in Europe as the Opel GT. GM is certainly trying to get its money’s worth from research, development and engineering investments.
With only 71,000 original miles, this car is an unmodified survivor with only one owner. It comes in a light silver metallic color with a black fabric retractable top. The Sky only has two seats, so while it’s not the most practical or practical car, it’s the perfect weekend cruiser – and a budget car at that. Under the hood is a 2.4-liter Ecotec LE5 inline-four engine rated at 25 mpg on the highway.
The car’s CARFAX provides a compelling perspective as it classifies the Sky as an accident-free, single-owner vehicle. There are 28 service history records that need to be cleared. Initial delivery was on July 26, 2007, handled by Ted Britt Chevrolet of Sterling, Virginia. The car was returned there religiously for the first few years for repairs. The most recent maintenance occurred in September 2024. In addition, the battery was replaced in August and the car passed a Virginia safety inspection that month.
A 2007 ad for the Saturn Sky showed a car brought to life from a napkin sketch. In fact, this is a car that enters the industry in a unique way. But even the sky isn’t enough to save Saturn financially. The brand was dissolved in October 2010 as part of General Motors’ restructuring process.
That means your only chance of owning a low-mileage Saturn is to find one like this. Reach for the sky and see if it can take you to new heights!
