Bajaj 400cc series will see explosive growth in July 2024, led by the new Pulsar 400 and Triumph 400

In order to battle Royal Enfield for dominance in the above 350cc segment, Bajaj has launched several new branded motorcycles over the years. Although their sales are nowhere near those of RE, they have reported growth in the 400cc segment. Bajaj has seen significant growth in the 400cc motorcycle segment with total sales of 7,649 units in July 2024, a staggering 246.74% increase compared to 2,206 units in July 2023. This significant growth was mainly due to the launch and strong performance of the new Bajaj Pulsar 400.

Bajaj Pulsar 400 emerged as the best performing model in the 400cc series with 3,340 units sold in July 2024. The newly launched model currently accounts for 43.67% of the total sales in the segment and has become a major player in the market.

The Triumph 400 motorcycles – Speed ​​and Scrambler series followed closely behind with 3,101 units sold in July 2024. This was a significant increase from the 477 units sold in July 2023, bringing the total sales to 2,624 units. The success of the Triumph 400 contributed 40.54% of the total sales, highlighting its strong market acceptance. Bajaj will launch 2 more Triumph 400cc motorcycles before the festive season this year.

KTM 390 and Bajaj Dominar 400 face decline

Amid the surge in new entrants, the sales of KTM 390 have fallen sharply, down 47.15% year-on-year. In July 2024, KTM 390 sold 593 units, down 529 units from 1,122 units in July 2023. Despite this, KTM 390 still holds a 7.75% share of Bajaj’s 400cc segment.

Similarly, Bajaj Dominar 400 sales also declined slightly, with 580 units sold in July 2024, down 4.45% from 607 units sold in July 2023. Dominar 400 currently holds 7.58% market share in the 400cc segment. Another new entrant in the market, Husqvarna 401, sold 35 units in July 2024. Although its market share is only 0.46%, its launch adds diversity to Bajaj’s 400cc offering.

The Bajaj 400cc motorcycle segment saw a significant month-on-month (MoM) growth of 31.63%. The segment sold a total of 7,649 units in July, an increase of 1,838 units from 5,811 units in June 2024. The Triumph 400 was the model in the Bajaj 400cc range to see the most significant month-on-month growth, with sales increasing by 45.25% in July 2024. The Bajaj Pulsar 400 also saw strong growth in July 2024, with sales increasing by 32.80% compared to June 2024.

Bajaj Dominar 400 was the model with the highest sales growth in the segment, with a growth of 54.67% in July 2024. Dominar 400 sold 580 units, an increase of 205 units from 375 units in June 2024. While most models have seen positive growth, KTM 390 sales have declined by 15.04% from 698 units in June 2024 to 593 units in July.

Husqvarna 401 saw the most significant decline, with sales plummeting 60.23% month-on-month. Only 35 units were sold in July 2024, a decrease of 53 units from the 88 units sold in June.
