Sales in this segment always decline at the end of the year, but the decline in sales in 2024 will be significantly higher than last year
Royal Enfield is the leading brand in the 350cc classic bike portfolio. The company has also expanded its product portfolio to include 650cc and 450cc motorcycles. Challenging Royal Enfield’s 450cc portfolio are the duo of Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson (with 440 motorcycles), and the trio of Bajaj, KTM, Husqvarna (with 390 motorcycles).
Bajaj And Hero 400cc bike sale November 2024
As of November 2024, Royal Enfield sold a total of 2,331 450cc bikes (1,534 Himalayan 450 and 797 Guerrilla 450). In the Bajaj and Hero 400cc bike sales rankings in November 2024, our Triumph 400 series sold 2,240 units, accounting for 58.58% of the rankings.
Compared with 2,661 units sold in November 2023 and 4,005 units sold in October 2024, the Triumph 400 dropped 15.82% year-on-year and 44.07% month-on-month, a year-on-year decrease of 421 units and a month-on-month decrease of 1,765 units. Despite falling sales, Triumph has expanded its market share. This is because sales of other motorcycles in this chart have dropped significantly.
The second position is occupied by the Bajaj Pulsar 400 with 582 units sold last month. Compared with 1,322 units sold a month ago, Bajaj Pulsar 400 sales have dropped by more than half, a month-on-month decrease of 55.98%, and sales have decreased by 740 units. It’s common for this segment to see significant sales declines at the end of the year, but sales should pick up in 2025.
Harley-Davidson X440 sold 387 units last month. Compared with last year’s 2,160 units, sales dropped 5.5 times, a year-on-year decrease of 82.08%, and a decrease of 1,773 units. Even according to the month-on-month analysis, X440 sales dropped 5.6 times from 2,200 units a month ago, with sales falling by 1,813 units.
Ranking fourth is KTM’s 390-car lineup, with a total of 290 vehicles sold, a year-on-year decrease of 71.03% and a month-on-month decrease of 43.47%. The sales volume decreased by 711 units year-on-year and 223 units month-on-month. KTM was plunged into a global crisis and even filed for bankruptcy. Bajaj Dominar 400 sold 278 units, down 27.03% year-on-year and down 43.61% month-on-month.
A total of 3,821 units sold
The Hero Mavrick 440 is one of the most underrated motorcycles in the country with sales of 34 units, a massive decline of 82.65% month-on-month. As Rushlane’s review of the Mavrick 440 reflects, this is a seriously underrated and misunderstood motorcycle.
Finally, there is the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, with 13 units sold. Svartpilen fell 71.74% month-on-month, while 46 units were sold a month ago. Overall, the Bajaj and Hero 400cc bike sales rankings for November 2024 totaled 3,824 units. Compared with 6,203 units in the same period last year and 8,775 units a month ago, this segment fell 38.35% year-on-year and 56.42% month-on-month. Sales volume decreased by 2,379 units year-on-year and 4,951 units month-on-month.
