Bajaj Chetak is currently the third best-selling electric scooter in India and is expected to get a price cut to make the deal even sweeter
Among the popular electric scooters in India, Bajaj Chetak is the best-selling one. Indian electric scooter buyers have accepted the retro design of Chetak and the trust factor associated with the Bajaj brand. The numbers reflect the success story of Chetak as the sales have increased three times compared to last year’s figures. Let’s analyze these numbers further.
Bajaj Chetak sales triple
Last year, Bajaj significantly increased the sales outlook of its Chetak electric scooter. This was one of the noteworthy highlights in the sales of electric scooters, indicating the growing popularity of the Chetak electric scooter brand.
In the past year, Chetak sales have far exceeded what they were a year ago. From August 2023 to July 2024, Bajaj has sold 1,51,308 Chetak electric scooters. This is a year-on-year growth of 190.03% and sales have increased by 99,139 units compared to 52,169 units sold between August 2022 and July 2023.
During August 2023 to July 2024, Bajaj Chetak’s average monthly sales were 12,609 units, which is almost 3 times (2.9 times to be exact) the average monthly sales of 4,347 units during August 2022 to July 2023. The year-on-year difference in average monthly sales is 8,262 units per month.
As shown in the table above, Bajaj Chetak sales hit an all-time high in July 2024. Bajaj Chetak sold 20,114 units last month, a year-on-year growth of 344% compared to 4,528 units sold in July 2023. This is nearly 5 times the sales growth, which was 15,586 units year-on-year.
Other notable results came in February 2024, with sales increasing by a staggering 417% year-over-year. 13,620 units were sold that month, more than five times the 2,634 units sold last year, and sales increased by 10,986 units that month.
Chetak price cut by Rs 8,000
A recent report suggests that the Bajaj Chetak scooter range will see a major overhaul in the coming months. The update will ensure major changes in the battery cells inside the battery pack, allowing for a longer range on a single charge than before. The battery capacity, however, will remain the same.
According to reports, the variant names of the Chetak scooter Urbane and Premium will be changed to 3202 and 3201 respectively. Similar to the Chetak 2901 edition. Apart from the rejig of the name and battery unit, the prices are also expected to drop significantly. It is speculated that the current Ex-sh prices will drop by Rs 8,000.
