If launched in India, the Benelli Leoncino Bobber 400 will be positioned below the Leoncino 500 and above the Keeway V302C in the QJ product portfolio

It is understood whether QJ Motor and its subsidiaries Benelli and Keeway have seen significant growth in sales in India. However, they have quite a range of motorcycles in global markets like China and we wish we could get them in India. The just launched Benelli Leoncino 400 Bobber is definitely one of them.

Currently, Harley-Davidson is best known for its V-twin engine and belt drive system. That said, QJ offers a similar package for its two motorcycles sold under the Keeway brand. These motorcycles are called Keeway K-Light 250V and Keeway V302C. Both bikes feature a V-twin and belt drive.

Extending the formula, we now have a larger motorcycle with a V-twin and belt drive, but this time under the Benelli brand. Named Benelli Leoncino Bobber 400, it is positioned below the Leoncino 500 with a parallel twin engine. The Leoncino 500 is a neo-retro cruiser, while the Leoncino Bobber 400 is, as the name suggests, a Bobber.

The Benelli Leoncino Bobber 400 is not confirmed for India launch yet, but we hope so. The motorcycle looks good and is likely to attract a large number of buyers and boost the brand’s sales. Currently, the Benelli portfolio starts with the low-end Leoncino 500 priced at Rs 4.99 lakh (excluding taxes).

A more affordable model in the range could be a boon for the brand, and the Benelli Leoncino Bobber 400 could be that product. We say affordable because this motorcycle has a peak power of just 25 horsepower and comes with a 6-speed gearbox. What’s most striking, however, is the low curb weight of 180kg, the low seat height of 730mm and the vibration-free belt drive.

handsome appearance

Design-wise, there’s a lot to like about the Benelli Leoncino Bobber 400. Its design is inspired by American cruisers, as is the powertrain and drivetrain layout. We can see a black theme for stealth and a contrasting paint job on the body panels like the fuel tank, side panels, rear seat cowl and front fenders.

There is a horizontal pill-shaped LED headlight, with the upper part of the pill-shaped shape acting as LED DRLs. We can see the Leoncino brand here. There is also a rear seat accessory. There are two types of handlebar mirrors available on this motorcycle, and both have a unique look. There is a twin-pipe exhaust, both exiting from the right side.

The alloy wheels have a gloss black finish and are wrapped in thick rubber. The motorcycle is suspended on USD telescopic front forks and dual shock absorbers at the rear. The brake assembly consists of a single brake disc at each end. The instrumentation is controlled by a circular TFT screen.
