Bharat Mobile Expo 2025: Hyundai Ioniq 9 EV marks India

Bharat Mobility Expo 2025: Hyundai Motor launched its flagship electric model Ioniq 9 at this year’s Indian Auto Expo. The electric Hyundai comes in six- and seven-seat configurations. The second and third rows offer 2,050 mm of legroom and 1,899 mm of headroom. The second-row captain’s chairs swivel when the vehicle is stationary. In addition, the first two rows also have massage functions. In addition, there is a new adjustable console Universal Island 2.0, which can be moved upward by 190 mm and provides access from the second row via a two-way adjustable armrest. The console has a storage capacity of 12.6 liters in the lower sliding tray and 5.6 liters in the upper tray.

Boot capacity is 620 liters, which can be expanded to 1,323 liters with the third row folded. The front luggage compartment has a maximum capacity of 52 liters for AWD models and 88 liters for RWD models. Other key features include an 8-speaker audio system (a 14-speaker Bose system is available as an option), roof vents, multi-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, 12-inch infotainment touchscreen, 12-inch digital instrument cluster with displays in all three rows of seats screen, ambient lighting and 100W USB-C connector.

Hyundai Ioniq 9: Battery and range

The Hyundai Ioniq 9 is equipped with a 110.3kWh battery and is available in two models: Long Range and High Performance. Long-range models are available in rear- and all-wheel-drive configurations, while high-performance models come with standard all-wheel drive. The RWD version of the Long Range is powered by a 215 hp, 350 Nm electric motor mounted on the rear axle, achieving a 0-100 km/h time of 9.4 seconds and an acceleration time of 6.8 seconds from 80-120 km/h.

The AWD version includes an additional 94bhp, 255Nm front-mounted motor for increased power and traction, enabling it to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 6.7 seconds and 80-120km/h in 4.8 seconds. The Performance AWD model is the most powerful, with 215bhp on both axles, 0-100km/h in 5.2 seconds, and 80-120km/h in 3.4 seconds.

Hyundai Ioniq 9: Design

The Hyundai Ioniq 9 displays a more traditional SUV silhouette, with a boxy design and a tall and upright stance. The front is marked by a closed EV grille and features a black strip with a continuous LED light strip. The headlights feature linear LED clusters with pixelated touches.

The side profile presents a gently sloping roofline, body-colored side mirrors and flush door handles. Silver roof rails add an extra touch of design, while the SUV comes standard with 19-inch alloy wheels, with 20- and 21-inch sizes available. The rear design includes vertically stacked LED taillights with pixel detailing, a high-mounted brake light integrated into the tailgate, and a black trim strip that runs the length of the tailgate and side panels to enhance the cohesion of the styling.

Hyundai Ioniq 9 is available in 16 exterior colors in the international market, including Celadon Grey, Sunset Brown, Cosmic Blue, Abyss Black, Snow White, Gravity Gold and Biophilic Blue.
