BMW F 900 GS, F 900 GS Adventure now available for booking in India

BMW Motorrad has officially announced the pre-sale of the F900 GS and F900 GS Adventure models ahead of their expected arrival in the Indian market later this month. The motorcycle maker has started teasing these new premium mid-range touring enduro motorcycles through the brand’s social media platforms. The new F900 GS series will replace the soon-to-be-discontinued F850 GS. It will be an all-new series with a few parts carried over from the previous generation model and is said to be suitable for both short and long distance touring. The motorcycles will be available in Completely Built-Up (CBU) form. Prospective buyers can book the BMW F 900 GS and BMW F 900 GS Adventure through the nearest authorised BMW Motorrad dealership.

BMW F 900 GS, F 900 GS Adventure: engine specifications and hardware

The twin-cylinder engine that debuted in the F 850 ​​GS in 2018 powers the new GS versions. Engine displacement has been increased from 853cc to 895cc, with more power and torque. The F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure produce 105bhp at 8,500rpm and 93Nm of torque at 6,750rpm, while the F 800 GS produces 86bhp and 91Nm of torque.

The inverted telescopic forks of the F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure are fully adjustable. The F 900 GS can also be equipped with the optional Enduro Pro kit, which features an M Endurance chain, an adjustable central spring strut and titanium nitride-coated forks.

BMW F 900 GS, F 900 GS Adventure: design and features

The base F 900 GS is more off-road-oriented than the Adventure model. It has a slimmer body and a more low-profile design than the Adventure model. In contrast, the F 900 GS Adventure is mainly for touring, with a bulkier body and road-biased tires. Both motorcycles have a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel, and the same suspension travel. However, when the GS’s 14.5-liter tank is full, it weighs 219 kg. The F 900 GSA weighs 246 kg, 27 kg heavier than the F900 GS.

To improve cornering stability, all three models are equipped with ABS Pro and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), in addition to two standard riding modes: Rain and Road. BMW offers an optional “Riding Modes Pro” package for buyers looking for more advanced features, which includes more riding modes, pre-selected options and Dynamic Brake Control (DBC). Both motorcycles also feature a new 6.5-inch TFT display and improved headlights. Other features include a bidirectional quickshifter, traction control and keyless ignition.

BMW F 900 GS, F 900 GS Adventure: expected prices and competitors

The new F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure are likely to be priced higher than their predecessors. For reference, the ex-showroom prices of the F 850 ​​GS and F 850 ​​GS Adventure are Rs 12.95 lakh and Rs 13.75 lakh respectively. The BMW F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure will go head to head with the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE, Honda XL750 Transalp and Triumph Tiger 900 when launched.
