BMW Group Archives create a comprehensive online archive that will be available to the public as a historical product catalog.
BMW Group Archives, available for media, enthusiasts and fans of the group, has published a digital history overview for the public and supplemented the recently revised online archives through a comprehensive historical online catalog of BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad brands. First, an overview of the Mini and BMW Motorrad brands was offered to the public in 2021, and now, an overview of the historical model of the BMW brand is now available online as well.
For the BMW brand, an overview of 424 models has been provided. From BMW 3/15 HP model to BMW 3 Series (E46), including BMW Z4 (E85/E86). A total of 80 years (1928-2008) cars and their archives were searched and prepared for the public. In all brand areas, there is an overview of all classic vehicles with short and helpful texts about model series, body variants and engines.
To achieve public archives and overviews of so many older models, BMW Group Archives had to process 614 datasets and 524 images. The online archive is filled with current images of BMW Group’s classic vehicle collection and historic BMW media archives.
“By providing online with our complete overview of historical models, we meet a high demand for information about historical products that have been around for years and maximize customer satisfaction with another digital tool,” said Katrin Gfrörer, head of the BMW Group Archives and Historic Vehicle Series. “In addition, most of the databases in our online archives are publicly available on the BMW Group Archives website for information and research purposes. These measures impressively underline the classic digital strategy of BMW Group.”
