BMW Group India has reported its highest ever sales in the first nine months of 2024, driven primarily by high demand for electric vehicles and long-wheelbase models. The company marked this period as its most successful so far this year, with growth of 10% compared to the same period last year. A total of 10,556 cars and 5,638 motorcycles were delivered, of which 10,056 BMW cars were sold. Meanwhile, the group’s subsidiary MINI contributed 500 units to overall sales. The growth highlights the growing popularity of BMW’s electric and luxury products in the Indian market.
Commenting on the sales performance, Vikram Pawah, President and CEO, BMW Group India, said, “BMW Group India is reaching new heights with continued strong business performance. From January to September this year Record-high car deliveries reflect synergy between successful strategy and unparalleled customer experience BMW Group India is changing the game with its long wheelbase portfolio and strong electric vehicle offensive. Main models such as wheelbase, BMW 3 Series long wheelbase, and BMW X1 are in the leading position among similar models, and the demand for the new BMW 5 Series long wheelbase is also very strong.

BMW Group India sales data: January to September 2024
The manufacturer revealed that sedans and SUVs contribute almost equally to its overall sales, maintaining a nearly 50:50 ratio. BMW’s entry-level X1 SUV and 3 Series sedan were the largest contributors to sales of 10,056 units in the first nine months of 2024. The company sold 3,322 units between July and September alone. From January to September, the X1 SUV accounted for 20% of BMW’s total sales, while the 3 Series sedan accounted for 19%. Additionally, LWB luxury sedans, including the 5 Series and 7 Series, played a key role in driving the German premium automaker’s record sales. Since the launch of the 5 Series LWB in July, BMW has delivered more than 300 units, with 600 more to come, reflecting strong demand for the model.

In the first nine months of this year, BMW and Mini sold a total of 725 all-electric vehicles across their six-model electric vehicle portfolio. Of these, 328 units were sold in the past three months alone. The iX has proven to be the best model, with over 1,000 units sold to date. This success has helped BMW Group India reach a major milestone, with the company now claiming to be the first luxury carmaker in India to cross 2,000 electric vehicle deliveries.
Meanwhile, the i7 sedan remains the company’s best-selling electric car and is part of the “luxury” segment that also includes the X7, 7 Series and XM, accounting for 17% of BMW’s total sales. Notably, BMW’s SUV range accounts for 55% of the brand’s sales, while sedans, coupes and convertibles account for the remaining 45%.
