BMW iX1 L launched in India priced at Rs. 4.9 million rupees

BMW launched a long-wheelbase version of the X1 electric version at the 2025 Auto Expo. It’s called the BMW iX1 L. According to BMW, the iX1 L is India’s first long-wheelbase electric SUV. The iX1 L is also the first locally produced electric BMW! The launch price of iX1 L starts from Rs. 49 lakh (ex-showroom).

design

Design-wise, the iX1 L is very similar to the regular iX1 L, with signature BMW design elements including the prominent kidney grille with the ‘i’ badge and stylish adaptive LED headlights. The most obvious change, however, is the increase in wheelbase. The wheelbase of the standard iX1 is 2692 mm, while the wheelbase of the iX1 L is 2800 mm! This increase makes the long wheelbase version 4616 mm longer and 1845 mm wider, making the SUV 112 mm longer and making the journey more comfortable for rear passengers.

Powertrain and battery information

The iX1 L is powered by a 66.4 kWh battery pack and can travel 531 kilometers on a single charge. The electric SUV’s battery consists of a single electric motor on the front axle, producing 201 hp and 250 Nm of torque! The iX1 L can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds! It can charge from 10% to 80% in about 29 minutes via 130kW fast DC charging, adding about 120 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes. The 11 kW AC charger can fully charge the battery in approximately 6.5 hours. BMW provides a free 11 kW wall box charger (ready for installation), ensuring a convenient home charging solution. BMW offers an 8-year warranty on the battery, which will undoubtedly boost the confidence of potential buyers.

internal

The iX1 L is packed with features, such as a panoramic sunroof and a 205W 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. The ix1 L features the same overall interior design, with curved dual displays housing the infotainment system, multi-information instrument cluster and floating center console. The graphics of the display suit the electric nature and show important information such as battery range. The M sports steering wheel has a sporty design and feels great in the hand. The rear seats are where the iX1 L excels as they offer significant comfort compared to the iX1 L. The increased rear seat space will undoubtedly make the BMW an attractive option for executives such as chauffeurs.

The launch of the BMW iX1 L marks a major milestone in the Indian electric vehicle market, combining BMW’s renowned performance and luxury with locally produced solutions to meet the needs of the growing luxury electric vehicle market. Competitive pricing could convince some luxury brands to produce electric vehicles in India rather than selling them as CBU models, which are more expensive and less attractive to consumers.
